Beneteau Cyclades 50.5 sailing yacht

The Beneteau Cyclades 50.5 is a large cruising yacht with 5 separate sleeping cabins (10 berths) plus a separate skipper cabin in the bow.

The separate skipper’s cabin makes her ideal for a large family or group interested in a skippered charter while also retaining the privacy of a bareboat charter.

The Beneteau Cyclades 50.5 sailing yacht is a large cruising yacht providing spacious and comfortable accommodation for two or three families, or a group of 6 to 10 adults.

Accommodation includes the main saloon and five cabins; 4 double cabins and one twin, plus a further single berth ‘skipper’s cabin’, specifically:

  • Four double berth cabins, two with directly connecting ‘heads
    (4 cabins, 8 berths, 2 toilet/washrooms)
  • One twin cabin with bunk beds (2 berths)
  • A third ‘heads’ (a third toilet/washroom)
  • Saloon, including dining area and ‘galley

In a separate ‘skipper’s cabin’ located in the bow and with its own entrance/exit:

  • A single berth with own ‘heads’ (one berth, own wash area and toilet)

The main cabin is intended for use by the charterer/holiday group. The ‘skipper’s cabin’ in the bow is intended for use by ‘crew’ and is accordingly smaller than the main cabin facilities. It would typically be used by the skipper if you opted for a ‘skippered charter’, however, this cabin, which is entirely separate to the main cabin with its own access via the foredeck, could also be used as a hideaway for an older child wanting their own ‘space’, or simply used as additional stowage space for luggage and ‘non-essential’ items.

Like many modern yachts the Cyclades 50.5 can be managed by a crew of two, although at 50’ a larger crew always makes mooring and other tasks simpler.

She has a fully battened main and roller furling genoa. The main is rigged with number 1 and number 2 reefs, both of which are controlled from the cockpit by twin reefing lines, plus she is equipped with a ‘lazy bag’ permitting the main to be dropped into the bag and stowed simply. She is equipped with a bow thruster to assist with close-quarters manoeuvering and parking.

The Cyclades 50.5 yacht is equipped with twin-wheel steering, rolling genoa, fully batterned mainsail with ‘lazy bag’, bow thruster and a Raymarine inboard (built-in) ST6002 autopilot.

Instrumentation includes twin binnacle compasses (one per wheel), Raymarine ST60+ Wind and separate Tridata instruments, plus Raymarine c80 chartpolotter in the cockpit. There is also a DSC VHF radio & EPIRB in the main cabin. Charts and pilot guides are provided.

The yacht is equipped with a CD/radio player with speakers in the main cabin and external speakers in the cockpit, allowing you to listen to music as you sail.

There is an inflatable dinghy with outboard to help you get ashore if you anchor away from the quay or in a bay, or simply to allow you to explore.

The Cyclades 50.5 has two double berth cabins forward towards the bow with a further two double berths at the stern. There is also a fifth cabin with twin bunks to port. This provides 10 permanent berths in 5 cabins.

The forward double berths each have their own private toilet/shower rooms (‘heads’ in sailing talk) and there is a third ‘head’ in the main cabin. Each of the heads has hot and cold water, toilet and a shower. Each cabin includes a hanging wardrobe.

The galley is to port and there is a navigation table and instrumentation to starboard.

The galley includes a double sink, two top-entry fridges, one contained in the centre island at the bottom of the companionway, a two-burner cooker with oven and plenty of storage space.

The Cyclades 50.5 has sun and insect screens on her hatches and onboard 220v electrical power sockets that can be used when connected to shore power.

There is also a cockpit shower with which to rinse yourself-off after a swim. This is ‘cold only’, although unless you are sailing well outside the main season, it is unlikely you will want anything but an ‘unheated’ (as opposed to cold) shower to rinse off with when you get out of the sea.

The Cyclades 50.5 also includes a ‘skipper’s cabin’ in the bow which has its own access via a deck hatch making the cabin entirely separate to the main saloon. The ‘skipper’s cabin’ would typically be used by a skipper if you opted for a ‘skippered or assisted bareboat charter’.

The saloon can also provide an additional berth to bring the total to 12 occupants (10 people in 5 cabins, plus one in the skipper’s cabin, plus one in the main saloon), however, this is not recommended for a comfortable holiday.

Outside the cockpit has teak lazarette seats with a large fixed cockpit table, all covered by a bimini tent. There are also external loudspeakers in the cockpit connected to the CD/radio.

The Cyclades 50.5 provides a main saloon with direct access to the aft heads & shower to starboard and the galley to port. There are twin heads & shower forward, attached to and entered via each of the forward cabins.

There is a chart table to port in front of the heads with electrical switch panel, GPS and VHF radio and CD/radio player. The main saloon settee can be used as an additional berth.
